El Oh El

LOL--You know what that means?
Little Old Lamp.
Legos or Luigi?
Lemmings Operating Lethargically.

But most of the time it means 'that's pretty funny'. Or 'you're such a jokester.' Or 'wow, you're pretty hilarious.' Even though those words don't even match the acronym. So that doesn't even make sense.

So do you want me to tell you what it really means? What the acronym really stands for? Get this:

No kidding, right? So when you are sitting next to someone who has a scowl resting upon their face and complete silence splashing from their mouth and they type 'LOL' into the computer, you need to realize the pure irony of the situation. That situation gives you a perfect reason and opportunity to actually LOL.

When I read LOL from a friend, I usually try to picture them actually laughing out loud. Maniacally. It makes virtual communication that much more hysterical.

And don't get me started on how amusing it is picturing people ROFL.

Lol... you are so funny! And I actually laughed out loud after I typed that, I was trying to keep a straight face.

I was just talking to my friend about this the other day! We talked about how ridiculous it is when people *say* "LOL," when you can plainly see that they're not actually laughing out loud. Or when they text LOL because they don't know what else to say.
Real-life example:
"I just found out that my dad used to play with Billy Joel!"
"Lol, when"

Why is that funny? Awesome, definitely. But not funny. Especially not enough to merit an out-loud laugh.

And also, when I see "ROFL," I pronounce it in my mind "Rush Limbaugh."

P.S. I remembered to actually comment instead of just thinking my comment!
