An Engagement in Salt Lake City

She and I became friends in Mrs. Jones' third grade class. We kicked each other's feet under the table and then we played Powerpuff Girls at recess. Six minutes later she's in love and marrying her first kiss, and they are a classy duo.

Old Friends/Bookends

Over spring break, me, Kiyna, and Alex ventured out into the world for some adventure. Mainly just to a nearby reservoir to bask on its "beach" in the "warm" weather. Combine a chilly, cloudy afternoon with fruit, berry-mint water, hipster in-love passersby, magazines, music, and pictures, and that was about what our beach day consisted of. It was also pretty much our last time for the three of us to hang out before Kiyna really ventured out into the world to serve a mission for our church for eighteen months.

Latest update: I just received news that a letter has arrived at Alex's house for me. Yahoo!

A seagull representing my love life:
Kiyna's [gangster] motorcycle jacket because I was lacking in the warmth department.

 They're two of the classiest.

Tuesday Evening

We made a video.

Remember this little viral facebook photo that misspelled the word "you're"?

Thanks to brainstorming at McDonald's, a shared appreciation for film work, and hours of "You don't pay me enough to even pretend to be able to act," we followed through to a final, finished product.

Here's to Greg's editing/patience to edit the motion picture.

Here's to Kiyna's help with the last bit of filming.
And dart-throwing.

Here's to my laughing every time the record button was pushed.
Every. Single. Time.

Here's to Tuesday Evening. Cheers.

CATS!

I was in the middle of a text message conversation (why can't we all just go back to the postal service method of communication?) and my phone received a text. I looked at it, expecting to see a response to my last message, but instead I read the following from an out-of-state number:

"Thanks for signing up for Cat Facts! You will now receive fun daily facts about CATS!" [Insert symbols placed together and vaguely resembling a feline face]

I could really only think the following:
1. What.
2. Apparently a random person typed a random [my] number into a random daily cat fact text message service.
3. I don't even love cats.
4. Maybe one of my friends signed me up for this [and why didn't I think of that idea before they did?]
5. What is the area code for this random number? [It turned out to be a random enough state, so I concluded that it had no relevance.]
6. This is definitely going on the blog.
7. I guess it's fine that I wasn't told how to opt out & that I get cat facts every day for forever.

The whole situation was beautiful. Simply beautiful. And completely outrageous.

Later on I visited my friend's blog and read this.

And that is all I have to say.

Three Souls

Alex. Kiyna. Bethany. We all have blue eyes.

I like these two souls. They've been my best friends for practically forever.

I can't remember a time when I didn't know Kiyna.

She is what people would call a "good listener." Because she does listen. In a good manner. And she thoughtfully and honestly responds to what you say.

I met Alex in the third grade. People say we look alike. And everyone says she looks like Bella Swan. Everyone.

She is adventurous and strong. And she never hides the epitome of her character.

Sometimes the three of us synchronize our laughter. Unintentionally.
Sometimes we blast "Colors of the Wind" in the car.
Sometimes we have inside jokes about tire-spinning, potato bugs, and ankles.
And they don't even shun me when I abbreviate words. They just pick up on the habit, instead.
Everyone needs friends who don't shun them when they abrevs evs.
